HEXHAM Town Council has finalised its plans for this year’s events to mark Remembrance Sunday.

Like last year, two events will be organised for the weekend.

One will be the second ever peace walk, which has been organised on Saturday, November 11 at 1pm.

And the second will be the annual Rememberance Day which takes place on Sunday, November 12 at 10:20am.

Cllr Suzanne Fairless-Aitken who is the Remembrance events chair and organiser hopes for a big turn-out for the peace walk.

She said:"Please do come along to the Bandstand at 1pm on Saturday, November 11 – to walk with an amazing group of people – and the Ukrainian refugees who have been living in Tynedale since the war in the Ukraine broke out.

"We need Peace now more than ever, especially in light of the current troubles in the Middle East.

"Our traditional Hexham Town Council - Remembrance Day event is also taking place as usual on Sunday, November 12 at 10.30 am from the Market Place, along Beaumont Street and up to the War Memorial.

"Everyone is welcome – all poppies, all beliefs, all creeds.

"No-one should ever forget the horror of war and we must honour the sacrifices of those who gave their lives in the service of this country. Lest we forget."
