A Northumberland head teacher is riding the wave to literary success with a dystopian novel set for a November release.

Adele Brown, head teacher at Corbridge Middle School, co-authored 'The Panaceum' with local theatre-maker Jamie Brown under the pen name A.J. Brown.

The Panaceum is described as a dystopian, coming-of-age, young adult adventure novel following the story of daring truth seeker, Cressida Connors.

Adele said: "It's all been a bit surreal.

"As the news has started to get around, the students, and staff, are getting very excited and have shown a lot of support.

"I've long believed in the power of story allowing young people to explore real-world issues through fiction."

"Having two daughters gave me a renewed appreciation of how difficult it must be for children growing up these days - in a world of big questions, challenges, polarization, information and disinformation – to discover their own path.

"My hope for The Panaceum is that it can explore this, and other real-world themes, against a vivid dystopian landscape that is primarily engaging and exciting, but also a safe vehicle for what can be an overwhelming array of questions.”

The book will enjoy a book launch on November 10, between 4pm and 5pm, at Forum Books in Corbridge.

Anyone is welcome to attend the event, meet the authors, and enjoy a chance to buy signed copies of the book.

The book can also be pre-ordered online at Waterstones, or on Amazon, by searching "The Panaceum", or at www.ajbrownwriting.com.
