Everyone's invited to enjoy an evening of dancing with the Whistling Sheep Ceilidh Band while helping earthquake survivors in Syria and Turkey.

The youth band has been playing across Northumberland for 28 years, performing at harvest, weddings and birthdays.

The independent band is formed from school students from across the area of Ponteland, Morpeth and Hexham.

The band plays ceilidhs all over the local area and arranges practices to suit the players' needs, with practice currently at Ponteland High School.

Current Sixth Formers are getting together to organise an event raising funds to help the survivors of the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey earlier this year.

Ponteland High School will host the event on Friday, October 13.

The dance party is set to take place from 6.15pm to 9.15pm at the high school's hall, with an offering of buffet refreshments.

Local businesses have generously donated raffle items.

Whistling Sheep are hoping the event will attract older pupils from local primary schools who will be the 'next generation of local musicians'.

Tickets can be purchased for cash only at the school's reception during normal school hours, or via email by contacting whistlingsheepceilidhband@gmail.com, where attendees can make online payments to receive their tickets.

Prices are set at £15 for adults, £10 for age 12 to 18 and £5 for under 11s.
