Fourstones Paper Mill has unveiled a brand new paper machine in Leslie, Scotland, which is set to ramp up production for the company.

The new paper machine, which was delivered to the company's Sapphire Paper Mill site in September, comes with a Crescent Former, a Fabricated Steel Yankee Cylinder, and a High Temperature Drying Hood.

Aptly designed to clock a brisk speed of 1700m/min on a trim width of 2.75m, the machine's installation gears up to roll out in October, targeting a commissioning date set within Q2 2024.

Chiming with Fourstones' sustainability objectives, the industrial giant is actively working to secure a reliable and ethical source for pulp for its operations, ensuring responsible production.

The new machine is expected to beef up the site's paper output capacity to a whopping 60,000 tonnes yearly.

The paper machine is primarily going to be crafting virgin toilet tissue and towel grades, appealing for the consumer and away-from-home markets.

Managing Director, Peter Duxbury, said: “This marks the largest single investment in the company's history, demonstrating our firm commitment to expanding the business and establishing a strong foundation for its future growth."

The investment, expected to pump over £7 million into local community during installation, promises to create 22 full-time jobs while ensuring steady contribution to local economic growth once completed.

Fourstones Paper Mill, which also has a site in Hexham, says that the announcement shows its commitment to investing in the UK paper industry, supporting local jobs, and ensuring people have access to high-quality British paper.
