Hadrian’s Wall is one of the UK's most important historical landmarks with its rich connections to the Roman Empire.

Originally built by the Romans to guard the northwest frontier, Hadrian's Wall is a rare sight from the ancient Empire.

The World Heritage Site is set across 73 miles across the North of England and sees thousands of keen hikers walk the distance every year.

How long does it take to walk Hadrian's Wall?

According to Global Adventure Challenges it takes hikers between six to eight days to complete the entire wall.

As they share: "If you are looking to walk the entire length of the Hadrian’s Wall path, this will take between 6-8 days depending on your fitness levels and experience.

"However, there are a range of different areas of Hadrian’s Wall you can explore, with treks taking anywhere from a couple of hours to a few days! "

What happens after a tree was felled?

Discussing around Hadrian's Wall has recently grown after the landmarks Sycamore Gap tree was felled.

The tree stood tall next to Hadrian's Wall near Crag Lough in Northumberland.

In a statement, Northumberland National Park Authority said: "Northumberland National Park Authority can confirm that sadly, the famous tree at Sycamore Gap has come down overnight. We have reason to believe it has been deliberately felled."

Now many are wondering what happens once a tree has been felled.

Typically a felled tree is safely removed from the area and repurposed.

However, as the Sycamore Gap is historic, it's unsure what its future will be.
