Defence Procurement Minister, James Cartlidge, met MP Guy Opperman at Albemarle Barracks in Northumberland.
Guy Opperman MP highlighted the base's UK defence significance amidst concerns over ageing infrastructure.
He said: “It was great to have James Cartlidge, the Defence Minister at Albemarle Barracks in Northumberland.
"It was vital to demonstrate the base and its troops' importance to the UK's defence capability and where infrastructure needs to be improved.
"The base has improved, but more needs to be done.”
The Minister and Guy Opperman were joined by the Base’s Commanding Officer, Lt Col Jonny Hooper and Maj Gen Richard Clements, the MOD Director of Basing and Infrastructure, who oversees the UK base improvements and is the former commanding officer in Albemarle.
Minister Cartlidge added: “A really interesting and enjoyable visit - important to see the full picture of our MOD estate in every part of the country.”
