WE look back at some of the shows performed at the Queen's Hall over the past 10 years.
One of the most popular show was the Hexham’s Queen’s Hall and Oddsocks success with Treasure Island, the panto.
Audiences loved the show and fell in love with the characters Pirate and Parrot Bond.
Other shows included theatre groups, such as in 2014, Jemms theatre group put on a production of The Wedding Singer at the Queen's Hall.
Even local musicians were given the spotlight as The Brothers Gillespie appeared on stage in their home town. The Tynedale troubadours started their careers as folk singers busking on the streets of Hexham, where they now return to debut their latest album, this time swapping the streets for the stage.
Some of the earliest memories of brothers Sam and James Gillespie are listening to the sounds of Leonard Cohen, Simon and Garfunkel and Jim Morrison – artists who the brothers described as “ having something to say about the world”- on their parents’ vinyl records, which later became the catalyst for the band to put their own thoughts to a melody.
The Queen's Hall also played host to annual show of the Ovingham-based dance group, which saw over 100 dancers aged age young as three, taking to the stage for a performance inspired by “Movies and Musicals”.
A theatre group even performed Blackadder Goes Forth dress rehersall at the Queen’s Hall.
The arts bulding has welcomed award-winning songwriter Sam Carter, 'Hazy Little Thing Called Love' by the Chase star Paul Sinha in 2021 and 'Sixty! (FFS!)' by Jenny Eclair this year in 2023.
Jenny came to Hexham on Sunday 27 March of this year, as the event was re-scheduled from December the previous year.
