A PET business owner smashes her own fundraising target by doing the Great North Run second year running.

Hannah Connolly, owner of a dog treat business called The Snack Pawtal in Prudhoe, has surprised herself by beating her previous fundraising goal for Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter by doing the Great North Run.

Hannah completed the run last year and raised £844, however, this year she has beaten that by raising over £1000.

Hannah is not a stranger to raising money for the animal shelter, as it is something she has done for over four years.

She said:" For the past four years I have worked part-time t Bishops Garage in Corbridge in the accounts department, and I also run my own natural dog treat business called The Snack Pawtal, which has been trading for the last five years.

"During this time I have been fundraising for the Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter, taking stands at their summer and Christmas markets, as well as donating boxes of dog treats from my business.

"Back in Christmas 2021, I was also involved with a number of local shelters, including Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter, Street Paws, and SHAK The Sanctuary, to do a shoe box appeal, collecting bedding, food, toys, and towels from donors in the local area.

"This was my second Great North Run on behalf of the Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter and a total of £1,005.08 has been raised, beating my 2022 total of £844, which I am very proud of."

Hannah did not do it alone but with her good friend and running pal Karen Garton of the Prudhoe Plodders Running Club.

Hannah adds:"I would like to thank everyone who donated through my JustGiving page and collection tin at the garage."

" Everyone has been extremely generous and I'm proud to have been able to help a fantastic local charity.
