AN OXFORD graduate hopes to seek nomination to become the next MP for Tynedale.

Joe Morris, 31, from Hexham has announced that he will be putting his name forward in the Labour candidacy in hopes of becoming the next MP for Hexham.

Labour officially opened applications in Hexham on Thursday, September 7.

Joe grew up in Hexham, attending the Sele First School, Hexham Middle School and Queen Elizabeth High School before attending Oxford University.

Since then, he has worked in politics and in industry, working for UK Steel and now in consultancy.

Joe said:"Hexham is where I’ve always called home.

"Even when I’m away for work, I’m intensely proud to be from here and to be a Northumbrian.

"We’ve seen our area taken for granted by the Conservatives for decades, and we’ve seen the North East suffer under Conservative neglect and complacency for the last 13 years.

"As someone who grew up locally, going through the Sele First School, Hexham Middle and Queen Elizabeth High School, I understand the area and will never stop fighting for us, in Westminster and in our region.

"I’m looking forward to the selection campaign and convincing Labour members to place their faith in me to be their candidate. I’m our best chance to beat the Tories, to end a century of Conservative complacency here – and to secure a Labour government in Westminster.

"We need an MP to fight for green jobs and improve our local public services – that’s exactly what I’d do.’
