THE RETURN of a much-loved festival proved to be a success for a second year running.
Rebecca Ashworth Earle and Dawn Oliver Doyle, directors of The North East Dog Festival, celebrated the success of the second-year event on September 2 and 3 at Kirkley Hall near Belsay.
They believe it was their 'most popular' event after thousands turned-out after they expanded their premises allowing more visitors to enjoy and participate during the day.
The pair were also very pleased to raise money for two charities close to their hearts in a charity dog show on the day.
For this year's event, two fields were merged into one, enabling thousands to join over the two days.
"The charity dog shows raised a staggering amount with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter raising £2,739 and Roo's Journey raising £1,117.
"Dogs from all over the country enjoyed everything from pond water retrieves in the gundog scurry to Scentventure.
"As a team of two, with a phenomenal family team behind us, we couldn't be happier with the way things ran this weekend and we are extremely proud to have created something really special here in the North East."
