Newcastle United look set to complete their fourth signing of the summer transfer window after a deal was agreed with Southampton to sign Tino Livramento.

The BBC has reported that the Toon will pay £40m plus add-ons for the 20-year-old defender, who impressed in his debut campaign with the Saints after joining from Chelsea in a deal worth just £5m in 2021.

Livramento would manage just two appearances in the top flight last season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury back in April 2022.

But he returned to fitness for the final two games of the 2022/23 campaign and will now earn a second chance to play Premier League football following Southampton's relegation to the Championship.

The right-back will provide competition for Kieran Trippier in Howe's squad and represents an exciting option for the future, as the Toon prepare for their first taste of European football since 2014.

Livramento follows Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes, and Yankuba Minteh through the door at St James' Park, and will become the fourth addition of the summer transfer window.

He could be in contention to feature next weekend when Newcastle kick off their Premier League campaign with a home game against Aston Villa.
