TYNEDALE schools to receive record level funding from the government.

Schools across Tynedale and Ponteland will see an investment will hit £56,715,336 for 2024-25.

The funds will be used to provide a fair start in life to every young person in Northumberland, whatever their background.

The increase to per-pupil funding builds on £98.1 million of investment to rebuild or fully refurbish all four local high schools across Tynedale and Ponteland since 2015, for example Pruhdoe's Adderlane Academy will receive a 6.4% budget increase next year.

The funding boost follows Guy Opperman MP's decade-long 'Fairer Funding Formula' campaign, which addressed generations of under-investment in Northumberland's schools. The successful campaign convinced the Government to change funding formulas so Northumberland received a fairer deal.

The Education Secretary also announced that every state school across the country now has a defibrillator, completing the £19 million rollout of over 20,000 defibrillators.

MP Guy Opperman said: "Better schools is one of my six priorities for Tynedale and Ponteland; therefore, I am delighted that students will benefit from this record funding.

"Our campaign for fairer funding started almost a decade ago. In that time, we have reversed generational inequality in school funding by making the Government change historic funding formulas so our young people get a fairer deal.

"This record investment means students across Tynedale and Ponteland will be equipped with the skills they need to thrive."
