Hexham-based Cycling Minds has been awarded the title of Most Inspiring Group by Cycling UK, triumphing over numerous other nominees from all over the ocountry.

Cycling Minds was incorporated in Hexham in November 2021 by three locals with a love of cycling to help people facing struggles in their daily lives.

This includes those experiencing poor mental health or people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Cycling Minds will now be included in Cycling UK's Roll of Honour, recognised for their exceptional contributions to Cycling UK's mission of promoting cycling.

Founder Toby Price said: “It’s great to see our work being recognised, especially as a new organisation.

"We have plenty to be proud of since we launched, although it has been an uphill battle with lots of challenges along the way.

"Knowing an established organisation like Cycling UK values what we have started makes all the hard work worthwhile”

Cycling Minds managed to capture the attention of the awards panel due to their remarkable impact in the local community and their commitment to getting more people involved in cycling.

This achievement was made possible through the dedication and hard work of Cycling Minds' team of volunteers.

Cycling Minds was recognised for its substantial contributions such as hosting events for Cycling UK and other organisations, installing three public bike repair stations, with a fourth one on the way, as well as servicing hundreds of bikes and refurbishing and selling many more.

Linskill Riders, a community cycling club in North Shields which runs led rides as well as skills and confidence sessions, also picked up an award.

Their volunteer, Kim Suleman, won the charity’s Most Inspiring Individual award for her work leading rides.
