A PLANNING application for new advertising banners was submitted to the county council.

The manufacturing company Essity submitted a planning application to Northumberland County Council requesting permission to install two new advertising banners at the business' location in Prudhoe.

Essity operates six UK manufacturing sites to produce branded and own-label paper products for the UK market.

The application form submitted by the company stated: "There will be one history banner highlighting the main brands produced at the site and how long the mill has been operating in the area. The banner states 'Proudly making world leading paper products in Prudhoe since 1971' and displays three logos of the products we manufacture at Prudhoe mill and our company logo.

"The second banner will list our brands and introduce who we are and what we do. The banner states 'Essity - a leading Hygiene and Health Company' and displays our company logos and product logos."

Prudhoe is Essity’s largest site in the UK and is also an integrated site. Employing around 400 people, Prudhoe makes brands such as Velvet, Cushelle and Tork. The Prudhoe base also makes own-brand label products for UK customers including Asda.
