A CHARITY which rescued a cat needing an amputation has appealed for support with vet bills.

Geraldine Overton, fundraiser for the rescue charity Fallen Felines, said the cat named Roger was found in Newcastle with an eye infection and was struggling to walk.

A trip to the vet determined Roger had suffered some kind of major trauma to his body. Vets believe he was hit by a car possibly several years ago, and his bones and nerves have not grown back correctly.

He needed to have one leg amputated and an abscess on his face drained, along with the removal of ingrown eyelashes which caused his eye infection.

"The vet bill is costing in excess of £5,000, any help would be greatly appreciated.

"We are also looking at having charity stalls in Hexham marketplace and Morpeth to help fundraise," she added.
