DRIVERS in and around Tynedale will have five National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

But motorists will be able to take some solace in the fact that all of them are only expected to cause slight delays, of less than 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A69, from 9am May 30 to 4pm June 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A69 Henshaw - traffic signals for new footpath scheme work.

• A69, from 9am May 24 to 4pm June 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A69 Hexham Bypass - Two-mile Cottages to Hermitage Bridge, slow lane closures to carry out routine maintenance activities safely.

Three further closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• A69, from 9am to 4pm on June 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A69 Anick Grange to Corbridge Interchange, lane closures for routine maintenance.

• A69, from 9am to 4pm on June 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A69 Constantius Bridge, Hexham Bypass, Lane closures to carry out safety barrier repairs.

• A69, from 6pm June 19 to 2am June 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A69 Redpeth, Haltwhistle - traffic signals to carry out dewatering works in Network Rail Land.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
