LOCAL woodsman to speak at climate action group event.

The Hexham Climate Café will be back in the Queen's Hall library this Saturday, June 24  from 11.00 till 13.00 with a chance to discuss concerns and positive action for the climate crisis over a hot or cold drink.

The café opens at 11.00 am every 4th Saturday.

This months speaker will be Mark Shipperlee, Tynedale’s own ‘woodsman who grows his own food’ up on Hadrian’s Wall and sits on several woodland focussed 'boards', including the local Forestry and Woodlands Advisory Committee.

On the day, he will share his passion for and knowledge of woodlands and trees, as part of the usual informal discussion at the Climate Café.

One of the organisers of the event said: "Although Mark does not have all the answers, he is aiming to bring a note of optimism about what is happening, and talk about opportunities to get involved, and learn more about the role of woodlands and trees in our region.

"The craft table will also be back at the Café together with a space to move forward a host of ideas and plans generated at previous Climate Cafes."
