An Arts Centre needs your help to celebrate its upcoming anniversary.

The Queen's Hall in Hexham has announced an exciting opportunity for people aged 65 and over to come forward and help the team prepare to celebrate the venue's 40th anniversary in October.

The centre is asking residents to share their memories and stories of its opening, its past life as a cinema/ dance hall or any visits to be put together in digital story of the venue's history.

Starting on Thursday June, 15 and those interested can go to one of six weekly, free sessions with Curiosity Creative, where they will learn how to turn their story into a script, record the script and choose visuals to illustrate it.

The end results will then be used by Queen’s Hall in official celebrations later this year.

Alex Henry, founder of Curiosity Creative, said: "Queen’s Hall has been an important building in so many people’s lives over the years. We want to collect people’s stories, photographs and memories of this iconic building which has been such an important part of Hexham’s history.

"I’m looking forward to hearing all sorts of anecdotes about Queen’s Hall and working with people to turn those memories into short digital stories as a record for the future.”

Katy Taylor, artistic director and chief executive of Queen’s Hall Arts added: “We’re really looking forward to kicking-off our 40th anniversary celebrations this autumn and are busy making some big plans behind the scenes.

"As a venue rooted in its local community, we want those connected with Queen’s Hall to join in our celebrations and help us to tell the organisation’s story so far. Curiosity Creative are an amazing company that we know will deliver fun and engaging workshops with amazing results.

"We can’t wait to hear the memories people step forward to share and to see how they’re transformed into digital stories for future generations to enjoy.”
