A Northumberland award-winning artist has died.
Paul Stangroom, a well-known Prudhoe artist has passed away on May 29 2023 and was announced by his partner Alison Woodman.
Paul was known as an award winning landscape artist best known for his watercolour Windows & Northumberland series.
According to his bio on his website www.paulstangroom.co.uk, Paul grew up in an artistic household with his father, Lawrie Stangroom, an artist and illustrator.
He studied fine art at the Central School of Art in London and Sunderland Polytechnic Faculty of Art and Design and in 2018, opened his own fine art gallery in Prudhoe, Northumberland.
After a couple of years, Paul moved to Maderia with his partner after selling his studio and home, which was located on Front Street in Prudhoe
His other achievements include a Canadian Elizabeth Greenshields award in 1973, which facilitated his travel to the Himalayas for two years and in 2009, he was a Royal Watercolour Society award winner.
Speaking about Paul, Prudhoe Cllr Gordon Stewart said: "Paul was a quietly spoken gentleman who would always welcome a chat in his gallery or garden, he had many friends in Prudhoe a town he loved so much."
