Proud Northumbrians flew the county flag for Northumberland Day 2023.

Crowds gathered on Sunday, May 28 as they joined the Mayor of Cramlington and organiser Jane Hunt at Land Trust’s community space and landmark, in Northumberlandia, near Cramlington, for the anniversary date to celebrate everything Northumberland.

The seventh anniversary was marked with an official Northumberland Day photo and a rock hunt.

While other people across the county marked the day in a variety of ways and through pride-filled picture-sharing featuring everything from Northumberland flags and lighthouses to Ant and Dec and a teddy in Newcastle United strip.

Elm Bank Care Home, Hexham, where staff and residents put on a brilliant colour fest to demonstrate their love of their county and posted many photos to Facebook.

Additionally, entries for Northumberland Day’s Writing Competition 2023 have also been flooding in, with schools such as Prudhoe Castle First School and Stannington First School really throwing themselves into the writing challenges.

Schools and individual parents have until June 5 to enter their pupils’ or children’s work.

The winners of other competitions are due to be announced once the respective competitions have closed.
