TWO hospitals are appealing for patients to share their memories to celebrate several milestones.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will mark several anniversaries this summer.

Hexham General Hospital will see its 20th anniversary on Monday, July 10, while Wansbeck General Hospital in Ashington will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Tuesday, June 6.

Hexham General Hospital has seen many achievements over the years including opening a state-of-the-art scanner for key diagnostic scans.

Wansbeck General Hospital opened in June 1993 and is home to the DASH simulation hub, used for medical training and education.

These milestones also coincide with the whole NHS celebrating its 75th birthday in July.

Both hospitals are examples of how the trust has advanced its use of technology to improve patient care over three decades.

The trust will hold celebration events at the hospital sites with current and former staff members to reflect on the care provided to tens of thousands of patients over the years.

Have you or a relative received outstanding care from either Hexham or Wansbeck General Hospital? Or do you have any photos from when the hospitals opened? Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust would love to hear from you to share these memories and photos at the celebration event.

Brenda Longstaff, head of the Bright charity said: “We are delighted to be hosting these celebration events for Wansbeck and Hexham General Hospital. We’re really looking forward to getting together with staff and members of our local community to reminisce on all the happy memories of the hospitals over the years.”
