A TOWN'S post office is set to be put up for sale.
Helen and Phillip Johnson, who took over the Haltwhistle Post Office and sweet shop in 2014, have announced that the business will be put up for sale in the near future.
The update was published on social media after residents were curious about its variable hours and short closure.
In a Facebook post, Phillip said:"Haltwhistle Post Office update.
"We wanted to let people know the reason the Post Office & Sweet Shop is operating variable hours and closing at short notice.
"We are putting the business/property up for sale in the near future, and we will do everything possible to encourage potential buyers to keep the Post Office open.
"In the meantime, we would like to ask for your patience and understanding when it is not possible for us to open, or the hours we are open maybe limited, during this extremely difficult time."
