THE chairman of a Churches Trust has retired.
Lieutenant-general Robin Brims, 71, took on the voluntary position at Northumbria Historic Churches Trust after being invited by the Bishop of Newcastle at the time in 2011.
Robin, from Heddon-on-the-Wall, spent 37 years in the British Army.
He said the best thing about being chairman was meeting new people involved in churches throughout the region.
Robin said he felt he needed to allow someone new to take on the role, and the Trust had received legacies putting it in a financially stable position.
The new chair John Anderson has taken on the role.
