EMERGENCY services attended a derelict building on Main Street in Haltwhistle on Monday after they were alerted to 'a number of youths' on the site.

The police arrived shortly after 4pm and a crew from Haltwhistle Community Fire Station also attended.

After finding no damage to the premises, a fifteen-year-old boy was spoken to and given 'suitable advice' by police.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “Shortly after 4pm yesterday, we received a report that a number of youths had entered a derelict building on Main Street in Haltwhistle.

“Emergency services attended and no damage was found to have been caused to the premises.

“A boy, aged 15, was spoken to by officers and given suitable advice.”
