A heritage event is coming to Northumberland.

‘Memories of the mines’ talk sessions will take place at Allendale Village Hall on Thursday, April 20 and Westgate Village Hall on Thursday, April 27 between 4pm and 7pm.

The event is run by North Pennines AONB Partnership, which is running the series of events throughout April to talk about the heritage of the North Pennines, and what makes this area special.

The free events are part of the Land of Lead and Silver project which is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England.

The aim is to make connections with residents, schools, and visitors to find the stories which connect people with this landscape and its mining past, and to encourage a more people to get involved in its legacy.

There will be a display of historic photos of the local lead mines and people are invited to bring along any of their own photos, memorabilia, or stories of the mines that they would like to share.  Everyone is welcome, no booking required.
