A councillor hopes that a new EV charger will help boost local trade.

County Cllr Gordon Stewart, who represents Prudhoe South, is pleased to see a new EV charger installed in Oaklands car park near the town's main shopping street.

"I am delighted that a fast EV Charger has now been installed and is working in the Oaklands car park close to the town's main shopping street," Gordon Stewart said.

"It is hoped that it will benefit local people and help boost business in the area.

"I wish to thank the County Council team who have installed this and another charger in Eastwoods Park."

Caroline Warburton, who chairs the Prudhoe Community Partnership and an advocate for electric vehicles, adds: "This will be a boost to our local economy with EV drivers who had previously avoided coming to Prudhoe due to the lack of chargers in the area now find it a lot easier to call and support our fantastic businesses.

She added: "Our Prudhoe goes green project is looking at reducing our local carbon footprint and improving the air quality, the introduction of charging points helps us achieve some of our objectives."
