A GOLF club opened the new season in style.
On Saturday, April 1 there were no April fool jokes in sight as Hexham Golf Club captains drove in the new season.
A large crowd gathered on the 1st Tee to show their support and saw Men's captain Richard Dodd, Ladies' captain Liz Donaldson and Junior captain Zach Willis all hit magnificent opening tee shots which was met with loud applause.
The full field of eighty-eight players then braved the damp recent conditions to play in the annual captain vs president match.
A resounding victory for the president's team this year was then followed by a sold-out evening event with live music from The Charwallas.
The day raised over £1,000 for the captains’ chosen local charities of West Northumberland Food Bank and Gateway in the Community; a fabulous way and atmosphere for the club members to start the season.
