A family has received a 'red carpet welcome' from the community since opening its business.
G Wallace Flooring store has returned 50 years later to the street where it first opened in 1973, Priestpopple in Hexham.
The business, which was founded by Gordon Wallace, is now in the hands of his son Gary Wallace and his daughters. Gary was trained by his father at the age of 20 and they became respected as specialists in the flooring trade.
After years of success, the pair decided to expand to bigger premises but after heating problems with the site, they gave it up and Gordon chose to retire early.
The company was van-based until Gary decided it was time to set up a base again and returned to Priestpopple in Hexham with new family members joining him.
The new store opened on Monday, March 27, where they provided tea and coffee for anyone who visited.
One of Gary's daughters, Amy Wallace, said: "It is like returning home.
"We have been given a warm welcome to the community with many people wishing us good luck online or sending us cards and flowers.
"When we opened the shop, we had a lot of people coming in to talk to us and get to know the business, or those who knew us welcomed us back.
"It was great to see everyone so we would love for people to come in and we will stick the kettle on."
"We have many returning customers such as pubs and schools that it just made sense to have a base again instead of just working in the van.
"We are proud that many of our family members are involved in the business, and we hope to make sure that my dad's grandchildren can be a part of it.
"In the future, we have plans to expand further and offer more customers products, so keep an eye out."
