A MOBILE banking service van will visit a Tynedale village in March.

Corbridge councillor Nick Oliver and Hexham MP Guy Opperman have worked with banking business Barclays to bring the service to Corbridge for the first time on March 17.

The van will be in Corstopitum Social Club's car park on St Helen's Street, between 10am and 3pm.

Nick Oliver said: "I'm pleased that Barclays have committed to bringing their mobile banking services van to Corbridge in March and I hope this will become a regular fixture."

"Thanks to everybody else involved in making this happen including Guy Opperman and his team, Corbridge resident Michael Robinson and of course, Barclays themselves.

"Some residents have missed the face-to-face contact with their bank since the branch closed and this particularly affects elderly people who may not be comfortable with digital or telephone services.

"It's worth noting that basic services such as deposits and withdrawals for most banks are available every day at our village Post Office," he said.

Guy Opperman MP added: "In-person banking is a vital service to residents who don’t have access to online banking.

"I am delighted that following our campaign, the Barclays van will now be visiting Corbridge on Friday, March 17.

"Cllr Nick Oliver and I are working with Barclays for the van to attend Corbridge regularly."
