SUCCESSFUL women are celebrated around the UK on International Women's Day, on March 8. Here are five stars from Tynedale.

1 Jennifer Lapping, founder of Jog on the Tyne

Collette Eames, Barbara Duggan and Catriona Mulligan recommended Jennifer, founder of Jog on The Tyne.

Collette said: "Supports and encourages so many. Got time for everyone."

2 Zoe Philipson, of Tyne Valley Ices

Zoe Philipson, 30, of Tyne Valley Ices in Hexham won the national 'Guido Morelli Rising Star' award from the Ice Cream Alliance (ICA), the trade body for the UK's ice cream industry in February.

She also won Ice Cream Van of the Year for 2022.

Tyne Valley Ices is a manufacturer, wholesaler and ice cream operator and is known for its vast modern range of sauces which they ship out worldwide.

3 Kate Stanforth, professional dancer, teacher, model and ambulatory wheelchair user

Kate, from Horsley, challenged disability prejudices on live television when she danced on Channel 4's The Last Leg.

She can use her legs in limited circumstances and her mobility needs change daily.

"I am determined to get access and inclusion improved in the arts industry, especially for disabled people. I don’t feel as though there are equal opportunities or adequate support available at the moment and that needs to change," she said.

Kate was also named as one of the top 100 most influential disabled people in the UK in the Shaw Trust's Power 100 list.

4 Kathie Keady, netball coach

Pauline Mulholland recommended Kathie Keady.

"Kathie Keady does such a fantastic job as netball coach for girls and young women in the region. She works endlessly to give them all such great opportunities to shine and belong to a fantastic community at Hexham Junior Netball Club," Pauline said.

5 Judith Baxter, inspiring others

Melanie Bell nominated her mum, Judith Baxter.

She said: "The one who gave me strength and inspiration to never let life bring you down. She’s incredible, has had numerous health problems and never let that stop her, even going partially blind and having her own independence taken from her she didn’t let that stop her, continued her work life and even put herself back at university if that’s not inspiring I don’t know what is!

"She and little Bertie the guide dog living their best life."
