A TOWN council announces it will continue to hold regular litter picks after a great turnout in a successful litter haul.

More than 30 Haltwhistle residents, including children and council members, teamed up and gathered Sunday morning for a volunteer litter pick.

With Northumberland County Council providing high-vis jackets, gloves and litter pickers, the group tackled the main areas for litter which were; Ave St Meen, through the memorial garden, around the swimming pool and the surrounding streets.

After several hours of litter picking, the group met at Jethro’s for a hot drink and cake to celebrate a successful haul.

A spokeswoman from Haltwhistle coucil said: "The council would like to thank everyone who attended and much appreciate them giving up their Sunday morning.

"A regular litter pick is to be continued with dates and times advertised on the Haltwhistle Town Facebook page and posters around town."
