POLICE were called to the railway line at Haltwhistle today due to 'concerns for a male', leading to disruption on the rails.

Train services to Carlisle and Hexham were disrupted at around 1:40pm when police were alerted to the concerns of a man's welfare in Haltwhistle.

Services were lately resumed a few hours later after the man was taken to a 'place of safety'.

A spokesperson from the British Transport police said: "Officers were called to Haltwhistle at 1.40pm on 16 Feb following concern for the welfare of a male. They are now in a place of safety."
