Classic Clapton features guitar and vocalist Mike Hall, who in 1999 won a national look-alike competition at Madam Tussauds.
Tyne Tees Television made a programme about the band, called 'Cover Their Tracks'. It was shown in 2000 and received rave reviews, leading to national recognition.
Classic Clapton comprises four musicians: Mike Hall on lead vocals and guitar, Keith Cad on drums, Dave Robson on bass guitar and backing vocals, and Steve Hutchinson on keyboards and backing vocals.
Dave is a former member of chart band Geordie and performed with them when Brian Johnson left to join AC/DC, while Steve was a member of The Animals for six years during the 1990s, alongside original members Hilton Valentine and John Steel.
They have performed through the UK and Ireland including concerts at The Royal Festival Hall, London and at Glastonbury Festival in 2002.
In 2009, they appeared for the first time in Mumbai. They were invited back for three more concerts in India in 2016. In March 2017 they appeared in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Classic Clapton will perform at Queen’s Hall, on Friday, March 3 at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £20.
