HEXHAM Rotary has presented the North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team with a cheque for £900.

Before Christmas, Rotarians collected donations on Fore Street from the good folk of Tynedale.

Nearly £2,700 was raised in total.

And last week, Hexham Rotary Club members Andy Rigg and Bob Hull met the North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team's fundraising officer Graham to distribute part of the funds raised to the charity.

The pair were also given a tour of the incident control vehicle and its equipment.

Mr Hull said: "Obviously the point of the meeting with Graham was to hand over funds to help the Mountain Rescue Team continue with its vital work but in doing so Graham was able to show us one of the incident control vehicles which transports a staggering amount of equipment and tools to deal with all sorts of potentially life-threatening situations encountered on the hills.

"The skilled coordination needed by these amazing volunteers from this vehicle in urgent situations was a real eye-opener. I ended up coming away grateful that such a team exists in our area."
