A councillor has responded to a break-in of a newly refurbished pavilion.
Hexham Cllr Trevor Cessford of Hexham Central with Acomb has shared his disappointment of the news of a break-in and damage to a newly refurbished pavilion in Acomb on Main Street.
The building was open to the public since November, 26 2022.

Cllr Cessford officially opened it after investing £20,000 of his members' allowance towards the scheme.
It was also supported financially by Sport England.

Cll Cessford said: "I was very sad to here about this.

"I was happy to be asked to officially open the Pavillion just a few weeks ago, which is there for the residents of Acomb of all ages.

"But now the residents themselves will ultimately have to cover the cost of the vandalism, money that I'm sure they would rather be going elsewhere, the Village Hall refurbishment for example.

"But due to some selfish attitudes, and a lack of respect for others, resident's money will have to be diverted.

"There are people within the village who I'm sure will know who has done this, staying quiet is helping no one, including those who actually did the damage."

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 9am on Saturday (January 28) we received a report of burglary at a sports pavilion building on Main Street, in Acomb, Northumberland.

“It is believed the offenders entered the premises before damaging furniture and flooding the building.

“Enquiries are ongoing.

“Witnesses with any information should contact police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of our website or by calling 101 and quoting NP-20230128-0268.”
