TICKET sales have opened for one of the district's most popular events.

The annual Tynedale Beer and Cider Festival will run from June 15-18 at Tynedale Park in Corbridge.

This year's festival, which is organised by Tynedale Lions and Tynedale Rugby Club with support from volunteers, is the longest yet, spanning four days in the summer.

Hundreds are expected to descend on the rugby ground to sample some of the finest ales, beers, ciders and perries, as well as other bar classics.

The event sees money raised for good causes and this year, Northumbria Blood Banks, the Great North Air Ambulance, Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue and Cygnus will benefit.

The festival, sponsored by Tent, has partnered with Hexham-based Core Music to present the Big Gig showcase, featuring young musicians from the local area.

As part of the event, there will also be a variety of street food stalls and a men's 7's rugby tournament on Saturday and women's rugby on Friday.

The festival started in 2002 and has since raised over £900,000 for charities and Tynedale RFC.

Last year, the event was held in September, returning after a Covid-enforced break. During lockdown, the festival went online in the absence of mass-gatherings.
