WE asked our readers for their recommendations for their favourite pub to visit. Here's what they said.

1 Halfway House, Prudhoe

Fenick Mews gave the Halfway House in Prudhoe a shoutout.

On Facebook, Christina Gerry recommended the pub and said: "Nice old pub friendly people. Good Stella. Plenty of darts and pool."

Laura Collins said: "Fantastic Christmas karaoke night at the Halfway. Cheap drinks, great atmosphere and lovely staff."

2 Crown and Cannon, Winlaton

Sandra Powley recommended the Crown and Cannon.

The pub hosts live music from local bands and musicians.

Malcolm Bamborough reviewed it and said: "Can't beat it for the staff so friendly."

3 The Bowes Hotel, Bardon Mill

4 Black Bull, Corbridge

Phillip Dougan reviewed the pub and said: "Nice beers good service reasonable prices lovely ambiance."

5 Mr Ants, Hexham

Simon Pattinson suggested the bar, which hosts music and parties, for its 'great crack'.

Christine Black said: "Staff are super friendly and cocktails are yummy."

6 The Globe Inn, Hexham

Derek Sim recommended The Globe, Hexham.

It is a traditional bar that shows live sport from Racing UK, At The Races, Sky Sports and BT Sport.

Graham Smith said: "Great friendly atmosphere, always feel welcome and service with a smile."

7 The Fox, Hexham

Derek Sim also suggested The Fox. 

Graeme Wylie said: "Really friendly staff. Top beer and friendly customers. We go everytime we visit Hexham. Super place for a good night."

8 The Heart of Northumberland, Hexham 

Michael Molyneux-Johnson recommended the central Hexham pub.

A contemporary update of the great British pub, The Heart of Northumberland serves traditional pub food.

Michael Barker said: "Excellent food. Good selection of beers and spirits. A lovely homely place for an evening."

9 The Barrasford Arms, near Hadrian's Wall

Michael Molyneux-Johnson gave a shoutout to The Barrasford Arms near Hadrian's Wall.

It is an award-winning country pub with restaurant and rooms.

Amy Ions said in a Facebook review: "Always have the best time at the Barrasford Arms. First time staying overnight and it was cozy, comfortable and very good value. Thank you for a perfect evening celebrating my dads 70th." 

10 The Black Bull, Haltwhistle

Shirley Nixon recommended The Black Bull Haltwhistle. "Always a warm welcome and a decent gin and tonic," she said.
