A couple that met on holiday proves to many that a holiday romance can continue back home and even last forever.

While on holiday in Ibiza, in two different friendship groups, 23-year-old Charlotte and Dean, 32, did not expect to find each other and continue their relationship when they returned home to the UK.

Fast forward to two years later, living in Manchester but formally from Acomb,Hexham, Operations Manager Dean was more than sure Charlotte was the one for him and planned a big proposal.

Recalling the day, Administrative Assistant Charlotte said:” The proposal was on September 26 2021, where Dean brought our family, my mum and dad and his mum, dad and stepdad to Manchester, ‘our home town’.

“It was also our anniversary, so he surprised me with a weekend there, as we always travel around.

“He took me for a lobster lunch at 20 Stories in Manchester, followed by a spa day in King Street Town House hotel, which was the hotel is also where we were staying.

“We then dinned at The Ivy, Spinningfields. But he then surprised me by taking me back to 20 Stories after dinner, skipping the huge queue.

“When we got to the top of the building and out of the lift, he asked me, ‘what was the most important thing in my life’ I replied with ‘my family’, and he said, ‘we best go see them then’.

“To my surprise, everyone was there in 20 Stories – I cried my eyes out. Later that night, he told me he wanted a picture of us by the large window and then got down on one knee – I had no idea.”

After the shock of the proposal, the party started as the pair planned their stag and hen do.

“Dean had a weekend in Liverpool then decided to the Chester Races over 20 of them,” Charlotte said,

“Whereas I had my hen do in York, which was organised by my best friend Hetty. We had a cocktail-making class and an ABBA Dance Class.”

Finally, Dean and Charlotte’s big day arrived. The pair married at Matfen Hall on August 27, surrounded by friends and family. Even though there were numerous ‘special moments’ throughout the day - two stood out for the couple.

Charlotte explains: “Two of the most memorable moment for us was watching Imogen, our youngest, give the rings to us. She was so brave getting up in front of everyone and did the most amazing job.

“Our other daughter, Lily, wanted to do a speech during the wedding breakfast, and she delivered this so well and wasn’t too nervous. It made me cry hearing how much she loves us and how happy she and Imogen are to happy to have me as a Stepmum. We have the most amazing bond.”
