IMPROVEMENTS have been made to a Prudhoe church hall.

It comes after Northumberland County Councillor Gordon Stewart, who represents Prudhoe South, allocated £3,000 from his annual local funding scheme allowance to assist the work at the Prudhoe Parish Church Hall.

A purpose-built toy storage area has now been created and a meeting room can now be rented out.

Rev Dan Freyhan said: "The parish church is so pleased with the renovation work done in two rooms of the parish hall by Dan Finn and his team. We're really grateful to the county council and PICA for their financial support.

"The rooms were previously unusable and we now have a wonderful meeting room, well furnished with a smart TV, which is suitable for local businesses and more who need a space for meetings.

"We now have a toy storage built specifically for the many toys we use on a Wednesday morning for our toddler group Little Treasures. The toys can now be easily accessed and can also be used, when requested beforehand, by groups who book the main hall.

"Both of these rooms make the parish hall more useful to the local community and help to provide a safe and vibrant space for the people of Prudhoe."

Cllr Stewart added: "The hall is a huge part of the Prudhoe way of life and cherished by many.

"The project has created greater opportunities for many people groups and people."

Last year, funding from Prudhoe Town Council, former councillor Ken Stow and Cllr Stewart saw a new kitchen installed onsite.
