MORE than £1,000 was raised for two Corbridge organisations at a Youth Initiative's annual Christmas Fair.

The fair was well supported on Saturday, November 19 despite the damp and cold conditions.

Held in Corbridge Parish Hall, £1,008 was raised from the various attractions which included a Christmas gift stall of goods made by young people, a raffle, tombola, toy and cake stalls.

The Corbridge Healthy Walking group ran the very successful tombola in memory of their friend Joan Wilson. In addition, Charlotte Straker's Crafty Women ran a large stall with handmade sewn and knitted Christmas gifts.

All proceeds went to Corbridge Youth Initiative and the assisted living facility, The Charlotte Straker Project.

Sean Soulsby chair of CYI said: "CYI's recent Lottery grant for three years core funding has come to an end and we are currently applying for grants and looking for donations.

"At the moment our future funding is not certain, and we need everyone's help to keep services for young people running."
