LARGE crowds gathered in towns and villages across Tynedale on Sunday to pay their respects to the fallen.
Those who lost their lives as a result of conflict were honoured in services of remembrance across the district.
In Hexham, the annual parade departed from the Market Place at 10.40am before a service took place at the War Memorial.
Mayor of Hexham Derek Kennedy and the Rector of Hexham Abbey The Reverend David Glover addressed those gathered.
Following the two-minute silence at 11am, wreaths were laid by representatives of groups present, which included serving members of the armed forces, veterans, religious groups and community organisations.
Cllr Kennedy said: "As ever, Hexham turned up in great numbers."
This year, Cllr Kennedy also paid specific respect to those with local links who died while serving their country.
"When you read their stories, it just brings it home to people," he said.
"A lot of people came up to me afterwards and said it was a poignant thing to do because it made it very personal.
"I'm really pleased with how it went. We will certainly do it again in years going forward."
Those who took part in the parade included the 3rd Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, and the 224 (Hexham) Squadron RAF Air Cadets.
There was also a large turnout in Prudhoe with people wishing to pay tribute to the nation's war heroes.
Starting at The Legion car park, a parade marched through Front Street to Lychgate War Memorial, where the Act of Remembrance and the laying of the wreaths took place.
A service at St Mary Magdalene Church was then held.
Haltwhistle and Ponteland were also packed as residents attended the towns' respective poignant services.
Various other services took place across the district, including at Wylam, Wark, Corbridge and Otterburn.
