The generosity of town residents and businesses has helped to raise almost £1,000 for charity.

County Councillor Trevor Cessford is praising the efforts of attendees at his charity event on October 27.

The event was held at Saathis resturant in Hexham and raised almost £1,000 for Tynedale Hospice at Home.

Speaking about the event, Cllr Cessford said: "I would like to say a huge thanks to all those who came to my fundraiser at Saathi's restaurant in Hexham for my nominated charity, Tynedale Hospice at Home.

"Many, many thanks to Titu and his staff for putting on an excellent night for everyone, including Civic leaders from as far afield as Berwick and Hartlepool.

"Special mentions also to Roger Davey from the Beaumont Hotel who gifted bed, breakfast and dinner for two at his hotel for my auction, and to Tracy Walker who also gave four tickets for the Fiji v Scotland rugby league World Cup match to the auction."
