A HOST of events will take place in Northumberland National Park in the lead up to Christmas. 

The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre will host a Christmas fair from 10am until 4pm on Saturday, November 19 and Sunday, November 20.

There will be local craft stalls, food stalls, activities and entertainment.

Make Your Own Cheeseboard and Brie Baker will take place on Saturday, November 26 at 10am at The Sill.

Under the tuition of Muddy Fingers Pottery, a pair of self-taught potters, you can make and decorate pots in your own style. 

Materials, equipment and firings are provided, with tutors available to advise.

You can learn how to decorate and assemble various parts of your creations, which will be taken to Muddy Fingers Pottery to be fired and dropped back off at The Sill.

Suitable for ages 16 and over, and pre-booking is essential.

On Saturday, November 26, November Little Larks will take place at Walltown Country Park at 10.30am.

Children can get involved in exploratory free play with mud kitchens, treasure hunts and adventures in a dedicated Forest School site. A complimentary tea and coffee is included for parents, along with treats prepared on the fire.

Natural Wreath Making will take place at The Sill on Sunday, December 4 at 10.30am and 1.30pm.

Make a blank willow wreath ring and then decorate it with freshly cut natural greenery.

Expert tuition, materials, and equipment all provided, working under the guidance of experienced willow artist Liz Beech, a member of the Northumbria Basketry Group.

Booking is essential.

Make Your Own Dinner and Side Plates with Muddy Fingers Pottery will be held at 10am on Saturday, December 10 at The Sill.

All materials, equipment and firings are provided for to create handmade plates.

Plates will be taken back to Muddy Fingers Pottery to be fired and glazed in a glaze of your choice, before being dropped back off at The Sill.

Refreshments will be provided, and pre-booking is essential.

A Fan Birds Workshop will be held at The Sill on Sunday, December 11 at 1pm.

Fan birds originated in Eastern Europe as a traditional decoration hung in the home that catch gentle breezes, made from a single piece of wood using simple hand tools.

The event Ghost the Christmas Stag – Meet the Author will take place on Saturday, December 17 at 9.30am, at Walltown Country Park.

Join local children's author Sarah Fae at the park for storytelling and creative activities to learn more about Ghost the Christmas Stag.

Three sessions of this event will take place throughout the morning and afternoon.
