WE'VE rounded up some of the activities taking place in Northumberland National Park this Halloween half term, from dark skies workshops to night safaris.

Tonight (Tuesday, October 25), there will be a Dark Skies and Creatures of the Night event at 7pm.

The dark skies workshop and night safari offers the opportunity to discover nocturnal wildlife on a short night time safari followed by a stargazing workshop.

With shared equipment and instruction provided, learn how poor lighting can affect wildlife and how you can reduce your impact.

The event is co-hosted by Northumberland National Park and Wild Intrigue, a small ecotourism social enterprise, which creates unique opportunities to inspire everyone through discovering British wildlife.

Bring a torch with a red-light setting if possible, warm and waterproof outdoor clothing and footwear suitable for walking in a potentially muddy environment.

Booking is essential.

Lost Words Nature Trail and Spell Reading will take place on Wednesday, October 26 at 10.30am.

The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre will host the morning session while Walltown Country Park while host an afternoon session at 1.30pm.

Find out about the Lost Words, what they are, what they mean and how they keep nature thriving in Northumberland National Park.

The event is ideal for primary school children aged five to 11.

Pinch Pot Pumpkins with The Clay Team on Thursday, October 27 at 10am at The Sill.

Staff will be available to help you make your own Halloween inspired creation from air dry clay.

Take your pot home to decorate when it is finished drying – all participants will be provided with paint and a paint brush.

October Holiday Club will take place in Walltown Country Park on October 27 at 10am.

The park has a dedicated bushcraft area, forest, nature trails and water to explore.

There is a newly renovated education classroom for the Forest School, which supports children to connect with nature and explore the outdoors.

Activities include, fire lighting, foraging, using tools, cooking on campfires and wildlife discovery.

A fire-cooked lunch will be provided, which includes food like stews and breads, pizzas, vegetable pancakes and roasted vegetables and potatoes.

Celtic Halloween will be held at The Sill on Saturday, 29 and Sunday, October 30.

The Sill will host Little Larks October Session on Saturday, October 29 at 10.30am.

Children can get involved in exploratory free play with mud kitchens, treasure hunts and adventures in the dedicated Forest School site.

A complimentary tea and coffee is included for parents and treats prepared on the fire.

There are also hidden fairy trails and a new outdoor play park.

An introduction to Navigation Training will be held on Sunday, November 6 at 9.30am at Rothbury riverside car park.

Learn and practice useful navigational techniques, including map and compass work.
