A JOBS fair in Hexham which was attended by hundreds of people has been hailed a success.

More than 75 employers were at the Tynedale Jobs Fair, held on Thursday, October 20, showcasing the opportunities available across Tynedale and the wider North East.

Some of the Ukrainians who have recently resettled in Tynedale and are looking for employment also attended the fair, which was organised by Hexham MP Guy Opperman and Hexham Jobcentre.

The Jobs Fair was sponsored by Egger, Vattenfall, Bam Nuttall and Northumbrian Water. Waitrose and Tesco also provided water and sweets.

Mr Opperman said: "I was delighted to hold my seventh Tynedale Jobs Fair with the Hexham Jobcentre.

"A massive thanks to the employers, our local sponsors, the Jobcentre staff, my team, and the hundreds of attendees. It takes months to organise it but makes a huge impact locally.

"There are over a hundred Ukrainians who are job hunting in West Northumberland, so it was amazing to meet many of them at the Jobs Fair and help many of them into local work."
