A MAN was taken to hospital after an alleged stabbing outside a Prudhoe pub.

Shortly before 1am on Sunday (October 16), police received a report of a concern for a man outside the Dr Syntax.

It was reported a 40-year-old man had injuries to his face and chest believed to have been caused with a bladed article.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "The man was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. 

"Enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and anyone with any information that may assist officers is asked to contact police via the 'Tell Us Something' page of our website using ref 121982E/22."
