Hexham Constituency Labour Party is calling for an immediate General Election.
It comes after Prime Minister Liz Truss sacked former chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng. He is now the second-shortest serving chancellor post-war behind Ian Macleod who died in office.
Jeremy Hunt now occupies the position.
"The Truss administration has inflicted enormous harm and the chaos continues with the sacking of Kwasi Kwarteng as chancellor", said a spokesman for the Hexham Constituency Labour Party. The Conservatives are unfit to govern.
"Our MP, Guy Opperman, fully endorsed the catastrophic mini-budget, with no regard for the wellbeing of the people of Hexham constituency. Hexham deserves better.
"We call for an immediate General Election to give the voters of Hexham the opportunity to remove Mr Opperman and elect a Labour MP."
MP Guy Opperman and Northumberland Conservatives were both contacted for comment.
