SPOOKY nights and pumpkin carving are just some of the events taking place in Northumberland this month.

Hexham Spook Night on October 29 from 2pm until 9pm will be held in the Market Place and Abbey Grounds.

Attracting thousands of people, many of them in fancy dress, Hexham Spook Night features fairground rides, hot food, fancy dress competitions for all ages, including a best-dressed pet category, pumpkin and turnip carving, a witches' den and spooky dancing around the bandstand.

Shop windows will be decorated and storytelling, face-painting, pumpkin trails and an escape room can be enjoyed.

The Dyvels Inn in Corbridge will host a children's Halloween party from 2pm until 4pm. 

With fancy dress, trick or treat bags, pumpkin carving, games, juice and a hot dog, all priced at £5 a ticket. The event is bookings only.

Halloween Craft and Activity Sessions will be held at High House Barn in Matfen.

From October 26 until October 28, children can make wands, potions and have fun with a pet ghost, ending with a child friendly Halloween-inspired story around the campfire.

Each session is two hours long, finishing with a Halloween children's lunch or tea and soup for adults. 

Guests can also access the Halloween woodland trail walk.

Tickets are £20 per child, with adults paying £10 which includes a hot drink, soup and a roll.

On October 26, from 1pm to 4pm, Bardon Mill and Henshaw Village Hall will host a Halloween Fair with free entry and car parking.

Halloween-themed games will be available, along with a cake corner, gift and craft stalls, a fancy dress competition and a raffle.

Wheelbirks Parlour in Stocksfield will host its Halloween half-term fun event, which will take place from October 22 until October 30.

No booking is required for the Scary Orchard Scavenge, where guests are to find spooky items in the orchard, from 10am until 4pm.

At £5.95 per child, a themed ice cream in a Hallowen cone with scary sweets and sauce is included.

Booking is required for the ​Trick or Treat hunt for sweets, also held in the orchard on October 29 at either 10.30am or 11am.

At £6.95 per child, the tokens collected during the event will be rewarded with a Halloween collection bag filled with sweets. 

Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens will host its Halloween event from October 22 until October 30 from 10am until 4pm.

Follow Dennis, Gnasher and friends to solve creepy clues on the fun family quest around the gardens, or join the School for Witches and Wizards. 

Meet Wilma the witch, hear spooky tails, learn to fly a broomstick, cast spells and, if you dare, meet the Witch Finder.

Belsay Hall will also host Spooky Woodland Walks from October 28 until October 31.

Join ghost-hunting storytellers on a family-friendly walk through the shadows of Belsay Hall on an early evening tour lasting around 45 minutes.

The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre will hold Celtic Halloween on October 29 and 30.
