NORTHUMBRIA Police are set to investigate a group of individuals who were chanting 'offensive phrases' and threatening behaviour to a member of public in the Hexham.
A force spokeswoman said: "Shortly after 7.30pm on Saturday, October 8, we received a report of a disturbance in the Gilesgate area of Hexham.
“It was reported that a man had been chanting offensive phrases and when asked to stop by a member of the public, the member of the public was threatened.

“The member of the public rang 101 and the man and his friends left the area.
“Enquiries are on-going to trace those involved and officers are currently carrying out CCTV reviews of the area.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact officers via the ‘Tell us Something’ section of our website or by calling 101 and quoting log NP-20221008-1031."
