A wildlife enthusiast hopes to find a leg for his latest rescue.

Tony Johnson is hoping to find his one-legged rescued duck Stumpy, a prosthetic leg so he can walk comfortably among his fellow peers.

Tony runs Pennine Wildlife Centre in Carrshield, Northumberland with his wife JoJo, where they both look after various different animals that have been rescued over the years including; cats and kittens, ducks, owls, chickens, pigs, hedgehogs, and jackdaws.

"Stumpy was found by a man who saw he had sheep wool wrapped around his leg," Tony said.

"It was wrapped around quite badly and the guy tried to take it off but did not take it all off which led to the blood circulation to the leg being cut off.

"Stumpy was not brought to me until three weeks later and the leg was already hanging off and after arriving here it fell off.

"The big issue was then to treat him for the infection caused by the wool, which took a while but finally went away, so he was left with a stump - hence the name.

"He has a good life and enjoys going outside but it is not as good as it could be if he had two legs."

Tony is determined to find a leg for Stumpy and has looked at every option imaginable including asking TV vets.

"I have contacted the Supervet but they do not do anything for ducks.

"We have posted appeals on Facebook and had some responses about people being able to use a 3D printer to make a prosthetic leg.

"We are hoping that this can be done - although it will be quite hard as it would have to be on a harness wrapped around him to be kept on.

"Then there is the problem that it would need to be comfortable for him and be a little loose.

"The other options that I have looked are all in America - to which I cannot afford and have no time to go over as the animals need someone to look after them.

"I really hope that someone can help Stumpy in the UK."
